Dvořák: Stabat Mater
Founded in 1935, the Prague Philharmonic Choir regularly collaborates with such partners as the Czech Philharmonic, the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, the Amsterdam Concertgebouw Orchestra, and the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.
They have performed under the baton of the world’s best conductors, including Claudio Abbado, Daniel Barenboim, Pierre Boulez, Riccardo Muti, Zubin Mehta, Kurt Masur, Christoph Eschenbach, Jiří Bělohlávek and Sir Simon Rattle.
At the Budapest Spring Festival, the choir will sing one of Dvořák’s most beautiful compositions, whose history is also special. Forgotten for a long time, the recently discovered Stabat Mater is now considered the composer’s best work in church music.
