Beethoven: Violin Sonata No. 9 in A major (Kreutzer), Op. 47
A charismatic member of his generation, violinist Ernő Kállai studied at Budapest’s Liszt Academy and the New York Juilliard School; at the latter institution, Itzhak Perlman was his mentor. A devotee of chamber music, he has known János Balázs for a long time, and barely a year passes without the two appearing in concert together. In 2012 they came away with the second prize from the Tunbridge Wells International Music Competition, United Kingdom. Ernő Kállai and János Balázs, who was awarded the Kossuth Prize in 2019, will play selected masterpieces from the literature of sonatas for violin and piano.
This concert of the Budapest Spring Festival is presented by Budapest Festival and Tourism Centre.
