UNITED IN SOUND: Cosmic Forces of Oneness

  1. 8 pm Àbáse meets Etuk Ubong, Wayne Snow & Eric Owusu Sunday
  2. 9.30 pm The Mabon Dawud Republic feat. Stevo Atambire

The Mabon Dawud Republic, a noteworthy band that plays modern African music in Hungary, and Szabolcs Bognár, who has started a new solo project under the name of Àbáse, take to the stage with some of the most exciting contemporary African musicians. The guests at what promises to be an extraordinary concert come from Ghana and Nigeria.
The Ghanaian Stevo Atambire is a master of the kologo, an ancient African instrument. An energetic and virtuosic player, he is also a singer with a distinctive voice, a compelling lyricist, and an inventive producer who fuses traditional Ghanaian music with modern techniques. Trumpeter Etuk Ubong is one of the most promising talents of today’s Nigerian jazz, who has played with such artists as Femi Kuti and Victor Olaiya.
The Nigerian Wayne Snow was brought up in Paris, and currently lives in Berlin. Rather than the musical tradition of West Africa and Nigeria, his chief source of inspiration is contemporary electronica, neo soul, and hip hop.
