Quietly – The Budapest Photo Festival’s Exhibition of Contemporary Hungarian Photography

With its annual group exhibitions, the Budapest Photo Festival offers an overview of how a given theme or genre appears in the work of contemporary Hungarian photographers. Over two hundred competition entries were submitted to the 2017 call for works, which was entitled Subject and was devoted to the genre of the portrait. Now the curators expected still lifes, and hoped to see different approaches to the subject, new interpretations and associations connected to the genre.

The competition for the exhibition, Quietly, was open to all artists: alongside those who exhibit regularly, photographers of all ages were welcome to submit entries, whether they be at the beginning of their career or be less active and visible. The entries themselves determine the thematic backbone of the display.

The exhibition is on view between 6 April and 24 June.
