The 40th jubilee Budapest Spring Festival is cancelled

Following the decision of the Hungarian Government, in accordance with WHO guidelines issued in response to the global health emergency, this year’s Budapest Spring Festival, the 40th instalment of the event series, will be cancelled. The organizers will do their utmost, however, to show, at a later time, as many as possible of the productions that were to be part of the anniversary edition of what is one of the most important festivals of the arts in the region.

Please be informed that Tank and the Bangas have cancelled their entire European tour, including their 8 April, 2020 concert on A38 Ship. If you purchased your ticket via the website www.bsf.hu, the price will be automatically returned to the bank card used for the transaction. Tickets purchased in person can be returned for refund within 30 days after the national state of emergency has been lifted, at the ticket office of Budapest Festival and Tourism Centre (1052 Budapest, Bárczy István utca 1–3.) Add a dash of culture to your spring – in 2020 the 40th Budapest Spring Festival celebrates its anniversary with a special programme, a new look and world stars

Philippe Herreweghe and the Collegium Vocale Gent, György Kurtág, Kristine Opolais, Lawrence Brownlee, the Ballet Company of Győr and Félix Lajkó, Sergei Nakariakov and the Dohnányi Orchestra Budafok. Ji, Ton Koopman and the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, Lloyd Newson (DV8 Physical Theatre) and the Ballet Rambert. Sárik Péter Trio, Gábor Farkas, Freak Fusion, Ernő Kállai and János Balázs, Miklós Lukács and the Hungarian National Philharmonic. Celebrating its 40th anniversary, the Budapest Spring Festival, one of the most important festivals of the arts in the region, welcomes spring with an exceptional programme. In 2020 the spring of culture starts on 3 April and lasts until 19 April: in addition to the classical music concerts, visitors can enjoy countless aria recitals, opera, ballet, dance and theatre performances, jazz concerts and exhibitions. With new events added to the programme continuously, tickets are available from 6 November, 2019.
